Recycled newspaper is my medium of choice. Transforming this humble material by layering it with a flour paste and acrylic paint enables me to explore the idea of creating something from nothing, turning straw into gold.

In these sculptures, the birds allude to the hustle and bustle of everyday life, where everyone is so busy running – in this case, flying. The colors and teeny patterning represent the richly satisfying and time consuming nature of raising our young. The male and female personas suggest a contemporary re-examination of the complexity and humor of modern families and relationships.
